Salagdoong Beach

Siquijor has more than 100km of coastline, almost all of it white sand, and Salagdoong remains one of the best-known beaches on the island. The water is clear and sheltered, making it a good spot for both snorkelling and simple swimming.

The beach sits in the easternmost part of the island, in the town of Maria. Its main draw is the view from the top of the hill overlooking the two coves of white sand and turquoise water — on a clear day you can sometimes make out schools of fish from up there.

The main attraction: cliff jumping

What Salagdoong is really known for are its two concrete diving platforms, built on the rock formation between the two coves — one about 5 metres high, the other about 10 metres. It's one of the best spots on the island for cliff jumping, drawing both thrill-seekers and spectators who come just to watch. Jumping is done at high tide — at low tide there isn't enough water to do it safely — and a lifeguard is usually on duty.
