How to get to Siquijor: complete flight and ferry guide (Cebu, Dumaguete, Bohol)

Contrary to popular belief, Siquijor has its own small airport, with a direct flight from Cebu run by Sunlight Air roughly three times a week. In practice, though, the vast majority of visitors still arrive by boat: it is the simplest and most frequent option, and part of the pleasure of the trip. Here are all the possible gateways, with real schedules, so you can choose yours.

By air: the direct flight from Cebu

Siquijor's airport is served by a direct flight from Cebu operated by Sunlight Air, three times a week (Sunday, Wednesday, Friday). The flight takes about 55 minutes, from 488 PHP (7 kg of cabin baggage included). It is the fastest option if your dates fall on a flight day, but frequency is limited: build your itinerary around the available days rather than the other way round, and check times directly with the airline before booking the rest of your trip.

From Dumaguete (the fastest way by boat)

This is the most popular route. You take a domestic flight to Dumaguete-Sibulan airport (from Manila or Cebu, about 1h30), then a tricycle or taxi to Dumaguete port, 15 to 20 minutes from the airport (Grab is not guaranteed in this area). From there, OceanJet fast ferries connect Dumaguete to Siquijor in about 40 minutes, with 4 departures a day in each direction:

  • From Dumaguete: 07:20, 11:00, 13:00, 19:10
  • From Siquijor: 06:00, 10:00, 12:00, 18:00

It is the shortest and most comfortable way to reach the island, so choose it whenever your dates allow. To book your tickets easily, use our online ticket service.

From Cebu

If your international or domestic flight lands in Cebu, you have three options, from fastest to cheapest:

The Sunlight Air direct flight (see above) remains the quickest when the dates match.

The OceanJet direct fastcraft: the same boat all the way, with a simple 20-minute technical stop in Tagbilaran (no change of boat). 4h20 in total, 2 departures a day in each direction:

  • From Cebu: 05:10 (arrives 09:30) and 13:00 (arrives 17:00)
  • From Siquijor: 08:20 (arrives 12:40) and 14:30 (arrives 19:00)
  • Fare: ₱1,600 (tourist class / open air) to ₱2,400 (business)

The slower, budget alternative: the overnight RoRo ferries of Lite Ferries and Starlite Ferries link Larena (Siquijor) to Cebu, three times a week each, an 8 to 10 hour crossing from about 635 PHP. Best for small budgets and travellers happy to sail overnight, not as the default option.

From Bohol (Tagbilaran)

Many travellers combine Bohol (and Panglao) with Siquijor, as the two islands are close and well connected. The Tagbilaran to Siquijor crossing takes about 2 hours, with 2 departures a day in each direction:

  • From Tagbilaran: 07:30 (arrives 09:30) and 15:20 (arrives 17:00)
  • From Siquijor: 08:20 (arrives 10:20) and 14:30 (arrives 16:30)

An excellent option if your trip already includes Bohol's Chocolate Hills or tarsiers.

Small port fees to plan for

On every inter-island crossing, carry cash in small notes for the fees charged separately from the ticket itself:

  • When leaving Siquijor: environmental fee of 50 PHP per person (40 PHP for students and seniors, free under 6, in force since February 2026) plus a terminal fee of about 14 PHP, paid at separate counters before boarding.
  • A cabin-size bag (up to 10 kg, 25×35×40 cm) can stay with you at no charge, which saves a trip to the baggage counter. You are entitled to refuse a porter checking it in for you.
  • Always allow 30 minutes before departure for check-in.

Book online or buy on the spot?

In the low season (June to November), buying your ticket at the port counter on the day works very well. In the high season (December to May, and especially around Holy Week and the end-of-year holidays), the most popular departures sell out quickly: book your crossing online a few days ahead to avoid unpleasant surprises, particularly if you travel in a group or on a tight schedule. You can book directly through our online ticket service: tell us your crossing, class and dates, and we will confirm availability with OceanJet and get back to you quickly.

When to travel

The dry season, from December to May, brings calm seas and reliable crossings. During the rainy season (June to November), a typhoon is not a given, but rough seas can lead to the occasional cancelled departure: always keep a one-day buffer if you need to connect to an international flight on the way home.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to get to Siquijor from Cebu?
The Sunlight Air direct flight (55 minutes, three times a week) is the fastest but infrequent. If your dates do not fall on a flight day, the OceanJet direct fastcraft (4h20, with a technical stop in Tagbilaran and no change of boat) is the best alternative. The overnight RoRo ferries are the cheapest but the longest.

Do I need to book my ferry in advance?
In the low season (June to November), no: you can buy your ticket at the counter on the day. In the high season (December to May, Holy Week, end-of-year holidays), yes: the most popular departures sell out, so book a few days ahead.

What fees are added to the ferry ticket price?
When leaving Siquijor: an environmental fee of 50 PHP per person (40 PHP for students and seniors, free under 6, in force since February 2026) and a terminal fee of about 14 PHP, paid separately at the counters before boarding.

What is the shortest crossing to reach Siquijor?
From Dumaguete: about 40 minutes by OceanJet fast ferry, with 4 departures a day in each direction. It is the route most visitors use.

Once you are on the island, the question is no longer "how do I get there" but "how do I not miss anything": Siquijor is far better explored with someone who knows its roads, its tide times and its quieter corners. That is exactly the role of the SiquijorBestOf team, whose English-speaking guides take over as soon as you land to organise the rest of your stay.
