Laine's Massage Service
Tubod, San Juan, 6227 Siquijor
Laine's Massage Service is in Tubod, San Juan, a short walk from Coco Grove. This is not a hotel spa: it is a small neighbourhood place, and that is exactly what built its reputation.
The line guests keep writing is hard to ignore. One calls it "the best massage I've had during my trip in Southeast Asia". Another describes it as "excellent and very relaxing". On an island with dozens of massage places, that level of enthusiasm is rare — and it is about the work, not the decor.
The second argument is the price. Guests describe the rates as "very reasonable" and the value as fair. We found no published price list, and we are not going to invent one: for reference, a one-hour massage on Siquijor generally runs 300 to 450 ₱. Ask the rate when you arrive — that is normal here and nobody minds.
The atmosphere: a quiet room, zen music, nothing showy. You come for the hands, not the interior design.
Where it is, and why that matters. You are in Tubod, the densest stretch of massage places on the island: Channa's Massage Therapy is 152 metres away, Fuego Island Spa 211 metres. In other words, if Laine's is full, you have two alternatives within a three-minute walk — useful at the end of the day, when everyone wants a massage at once.
Massage on Siquijor is not a tourist afterthought. The island is known across the Philippines for its healers and its hilot tradition. Most places now offer a blend of Swedish, Thai and local technique; if it is traditional hilot you want, ask for it by name.
Who it is for. The end of a day on a scooter, at the waterfalls or underwater. Book or drop by early: the good Tubod places fill up late afternoon.
Practical: phone +63 915 737 9026. Cash, as everywhere here.
