What it actually is: a budget address, family-run. The word that recurs in nearly every review is the same — value. You get spacious, clean rooms with air conditioning and hot water, a kitchenette, cable TV, and a shared guest kitchen. At this price, on this stretch of coast, that is rare.

The on-site caretaker is named personally by several guests, which tells you something about the welcome: somebody is actually here when you need something.

Our reservations, and they matter. First: this is not beachfront. The beach is opposite, but you cross the road to reach it. Second, and the most serious: noise. The Circumferential Road runs past the door, and guests report traffic and construction — if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back. Third: some guests report being given a different room from the one booked; confirm the room type on arrival. And plainly: it is very basic. Clean, functional, no decor.

Who it is for. Families and tight budgets who want a clean air-conditioned room with somewhere to cook, in Maite, without paying beachfront prices. For charm, look elsewhere.

The upside of the location: you are on the island's liveliest stretch, walking distance from Baha Bar, Belle's Beach Bar and Luca Loko. It is the same traffic that creates both the noise and the convenience.
