What it actually is

A house in the trees in the vegetation above Lazi, run by Terry and Lea, who host in person. On site: a waterfall you can swim in, huts you can sleep in, a projector for outdoor film nights, the house dogs, and coffee that reviews rate among the best around. The menu is short — deliberately. Several guests note it made them enjoy vegetables they do not normally eat.

The fireflies, and the hours trap

The name is not decoration: people come here to see the fireflies. Yet the published hours say closing at 5pm — before dark. The contradiction is real, and it is what makes people miss the visit entirely: firefly evenings and dinners are booked in advance (up to ten people), they are not part of normal service. Opening hours

Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Closed Sunday, Monday and Thursday. Three closing days a week is a lot: check before you ride up, because the road is not easy.

Getting there

This is the real weak point. The track up is rough, especially after rain, and unnerving if you are not used to a scooter on loose ground. It is not a minor detail: it explains the gap between glowing reviews and modest visitor numbers. The Kinamandagan Cabugsayan lagoon is a short walk away, good for after a meal.
