Entrance fee ₱250

The Sambulawan Underground River is one of Siquijor's most exciting natural experiences, hidden away in the hills of Lazi. Discovered and mapped by local residents, the cave officially opened to visitors in 2018 and follows a hidden freshwater river running roughly 200 meters through three chambers of limestone formations, stalactites, stalagmites, and resident bat colonies.

The ₱250 entrance fee includes a life jacket, a headlamp, and a mandatory local guide — often one of the very people who first explored and mapped the cave. The 1-2 hour guided tour mixes wading and walking with short ladder climbs and a few swims through waist- to chest-deep water, so come ready to get wet.

No swimming skills are required thanks to the life jackets, though the narrow, dark passages make this an experience better suited to older children and anyone comfortable in enclosed spaces. A tip of ₱100-300 per group for your guide is customary and much appreciated — they're the ones who make the cave safe to explore and bring its history to life.
